Whole Body Cryotherapy

A natural and safe therapy that helps to heal and invigorate the mind and body.

What is full body cryotherapy?

We believe that everyone can benefit from whole-body cryotherapy. Applying freezing temperatures to your entire body for 3-minutes helps alleviate pain, reduces inflammation, accelerates injury recovery, and boosts metabolism. In short, whole body cryotherapy gives your body the right environment to heal itself naturally. While spot cryotherapy is typically done with a handheld cooling machine, an individual must step into a cryosauna for full body cryotherapy.

How does whole body cryotherapy work?

When you arrive at our Charlotte whole body cryotherapy studio, one of our trained wellness experts will guide you into our revolutionary cryosauna. Outer clothes will need to be removed. A robe, dry socks, slippers, and mittens will be provided. Once inside the cryosauna, the body is exposed to temperatures as low as -250° Fahrenheit for 3 minutes.

The extremely cold temperature has the ability to “trick” the brain into survival mode. The blood vessels constrict, moving blood away from the limbs and towards the vital organs. Here the blood is filtered and becomes rich in nutrients and oxygen.

Once a person steps out of the cryo-sauna the blood vessels expand and rich oxygenated blood rushes to the limbs. A feeling of invigoration washes over you. One should feel restored, energized and revitalized to the core.

What are the health benefits of whole body cryotherapy?

The theory behind cryotherapy is that by reducing the temperature of the body in a controlled environment, numerous health benefits can be enjoyed. Some of the many excellent health benefits include:

  • Reduced inflammation – Inflammation is a vital part of the immune system’s response to injury and infection, however, if the inflammatory process goes on for too long or if the inflammatory response occurs in places where it is not needed, it can become problematic. Whole body cryotherapy reduces this problematic inflammation.
  • Pain relief – For centuries, people have used ice packs to relieve pain. The intense cold felt in our cryosauna numbs nerve endings, providing relief to painful areas.
  • Heal sore muscles – Full body cryotherapy not only helps sore muscles feel better, but it also helps them heal.
  • Boosts metabolism – By forcing the body to work harder to stay warm, more calories are burned, and fat is reduced. Of course, cryotherapy on its own will not cause significant weight reduction, but it will provide an excellent adjunct therapy that will help work off those stubborn extra pounds.

The extreme cold causes the brain to restrict blood flow to your extremities, which is the bodies’ natural fight-or-flight response. The body reacts by rushing blood to its core, heating the vital organs. After exiting the cryosauna, the blood along with anti-inflammatory proteins, and endorphins release flowing back to the extremities.
Whole body cryotherapy is much more efficient and powerful than a traditional ice bath. Ice baths take longer to be effective and do not encourage blood flow and circulation.
